The MARS MKII sling is the result of 3 years of testing, rebuilding, refinement, and retesting.
Built from the need to have a minimalist sling that has the capability and features of more expensive offerings, we designed this to be THE MOST durable, minimalistic, and modular sling in the entire industry.
Our MARS sling has the most comfortable, low profile, and modular sling pad ever built, and it can also be fully removed or adjusted to fit you perfectly. We also have the smoothest quick-adjusting slider buckle ever built. YES, we absolutely stand behind that. Quickly tighten the rifle to your body when not in use, or fully extend the sling to give you the room you need to maneuver instantly.
All this, and many more features found below come in at a price point under many of the most prominent slings on the market.
Make no mistake, this sling was built to perform and work flawlessly in the worst places and situations on earth, all while giving you the most comfort, mobility, and modularity. Full metal hardware in its construction, we set out to build a bomb proof piece of equipment that you can rely on.

MKII UPDATES: 

  • STATE OF THE ART ‘Molle’ sling pad: Custom built & manufactured to make MARS the most comfortable sling in the world. 2.25″ width, .25″ thick padding. Still quite thin, yet highly comfortable even with larger rifles being slung for long periods of time. We added thick/strong laser cut Squadron material for the MOLLE, this adds the ability to hold cord, chems, zip ties, extra pew rounds (Now available in our store), etc.
  • CUSTOMIZATION: We’ve got an epic selection of MARS slings and Molle pads in many different patterns/colors. Mix and match as you like! The pads are user-replaceable and adjustable, meaning that any of our pads can be swapped out with another, and than adjusted to your shoulder for the perfect fit.

SCALABLE & MODULAR.

  • We built this sling to be scalable. Meaning that our base sling can be user-upgraded at any time (with or without) our MARKII pads, 2-1 adapter, and ALL rifle attachment hardware.
  • MARS comes with a generous amount of length to fit any rifle platform or body, large or small.
  • Have excess webbing hanging off on the ends from sizing down the sling to fit you better? CUT IT OFF AND BURN THE ENDS WITH A LIGHTER. Leave a bit extra just incase, but don’t be afraid to shorten it. Our USA made nylon webbing will burn and seal perfectly so there is no fraying.

SHEPHERD Quick–Adjust Slider.

  • Custom built, state-of-the-art, rapid quick-adjusting slider buckle.
  • Built to keep the rifle tight & close to the body when not in use, to full combat ready IN AN INSTANT.
  • Snag free & sits perfectly flat on the body.
  • No loops, toggles, or tabs for potential snag hazards that would potentially loosen the rifle on your body without your implicit permission.
  • Built from heavy duty zinc alloy with an enamel plated exterior for incredible durability.
  • Stress tested, weight tested, and stagnant line tested for over 2 days with nearly no slippage.
    YES, THIS SLIDER BUCKLE IS ABSOLUTELY EPIC.

FULL METAL HARDWARE.

  • Incredibly durable, reliable and lightweight STEEL tri-glides. Built in the USA by ITW.
  • Heavy duty iron center loop. (This center loop can be replaced by the end user with a Cobra buckle or any 1″ buckle at any time, this process adds a quick-detach point to the center of the sling.)
  • Steel QD Sling Swivels (Click this link) are built by DEFCON DEVELOPMENT and are extremely heavy duty. (Sold separately on our store)

SHOCK CORD SLING STOWAWAY.

  • Included with every sling, our shock cord retainer is designed to hold the sling close to the rifle when not in use or when transporting.
  • Simply fold your sling pad around the back side of your buttstock, then lift the elastic retainer over the pad to hold it tight in place when not in use. (Video coming soon)
  • Also holds TQ’s to your rifle buttstock.

    If this is truly the first review of this sling, then it’s a privilege to be doing the honors. I’ve tried nearly every sling on the market thus far, and this is hands down the best one yet. The design follows the industry standard for adjustable two-point slings; however, the devil is most definitely in the details. First and foremost, the stitching and overall quality is absolutely bombproof. This also goes for the fact that metal hardware is used entirely throughout. When adjusting the sling, the action is super smooth thanks to the unique Shepherd Quick Adjust Slider and metal ring that the sling glides through. Shepherd’s slider is the best device I’ve come across as it lays totally flat and doesn’t require any fishing around for a pull tab when adjusting. The pad is also very slick and is the most comfortable one I’ve ever slung around my neck for two main reasons. The nylon that the core is made of is relatively thick and firm which actually distributes the load instead of making it just feel like a pillow thrown onto a sling. The pad itself is also silky smooth, likely due in part to the larger weave pattern of the core nylon and the smooth binding material that comprises the edges. Shepherd Defense rounds out this incredible sling by offering the option to buy the IWC 2-to-1 adapter. Between the materials used and thought that went into all the details, I could go on about how awesome this sling is, but don’t take my word for it – see for yourself! Shipping and processing was quick and easy. I’ve just bought two more in different colors to replace my other slings.     One of the best slings on the entire market. Slider buckle cant even be compared to other popular offering like Ferro, BFG, TREX, etc which I also own. Super smooth quick adjustments, very comfortable, thin and minimal. Also one of the only sling out there to have full metal hardware and also be lightweight.
    Couldn’t be happier with this purchase.

    Simply the best sling I have used to date.

    I bought one on a whim because I disliked the flimsiness of the padded sling on my gun prior and this sling exceeded my expectations so much that I will never buy another type of sling. As a lefty the adjustment of competing slings left a lot to be desired and the adjustment slide of the MARS sling is second to none, not to mention the fact that the initials of our Lord Christ are embedded into the slide.

    This is the 2nd mars sling I’ve purchased from Shepard defensive and the 1st padded one. I am again blown away by the quality and feel of these. The pad is very slick and doesn’t catch on other parts of my kit. These are going to replace all other brands that I have. I also love supporting another Brother in Christ. Keep up the good fight.
